My Eric’s New York App is your travel guide to New York. Here you will find maps that can be used offline, all subway lines, information on attractions, and much more. You will also find walks through New York City that I have created, photographed and walked several times myself.

Before your trip to New York or when you are there, you can purchase one or more of the walking routes in my app. You can find these personalised routes in the app’s menu under ‘Walking routes’. You get here by tapping my head, or the top right menu button on the main page.
If you are on your mobile, you can also open this link directly to the walking routes in the app.

Then click on the walking route you want to walk, and click ‘buy route’. After completing the payment, you can see the full route in the app and the different points of interest you will pass.

New York Walking Routes

I have created all the walking routes in Eric’s New York App myself, and I try to walk them as often as possible so that all routes remain up-to-date. You will independently follow the route through New York based on various points of interest. These include attractions, my favourite places and unique hotspots. I hope the routes allow you to see as many different sides of New York as possible and discover even more of the city!

The following walking routes can be found in the Eric’s New York App:

Join this tour to experience the diverse neighbourhoods of New York City in a short time. Stroll through the charming streets of The Village, where you can see the famous Friends apartment, visit Washington Square Park, and see Carrie’s home from Sex and the City. You can also see a part of this neighbourhood during my evening walking route.

During this walk, browse the shops in SoHo, experience Chinatown and explore Little Italy. One of my favourite neighbourhoods in New York is Greenwich Village, which is also where my first flat can be found. Every time I walk around here, many memories come up.

The walk is for those who want to see many different sides of New York, in little time.

From there, we’ll stroll along the Hudson River waterfront and end our tour at the iconic red steps of Times Square. Several of these neighbourhoods, you can also discover during the Greenwich, Meatpacking & High Line evening walking route.

Experience the charm of Brooklyn on this walking tour through DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights. Stroll through streets with iconic brownstone houses and stop for a coffee at the trendy Empire Stores. You’ll also take in stunning views of Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge Park and while walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is iconic, but there is so much more to discover in Brooklyn. Besides the bridge and a beautiful part of Brooklyn, you’ll pass by the best spots for iconic photos of the Manhattan skyline. Discover more of Brooklyn during my evening walking tour.

If you were planning to see the Brooklyn Bridge anyway, this route is highly recommended.

  7. Walking route East Village – Lower East Side

Explore the East Village and the Lower East Side on this walking tour. From the hustle and bustle of Midtown to charming low-rise streets in The Village, and from well-known shops to small business owners: you’ll encounter it on this walk. Discover the raw and artistic side of New York, where many students and locals can be found.

In this walk, I want to show you the city’s big differences. During my first months in New York, I lived in the East Village, where there was room for alternative styles. Living here is cheaper than in many other parts of Manhattan. This is because many old buildings do not have lifts. As a result, the buildings are mostly inhabited by young and creative people.

This route is suitable for anyone looking to experience something different and open to being pleasantly surprised.

On this walk, also explore the pristine Tudor City, which I think is a unique piece of New York. Despite being in the middle of Manhattan, it is comparatively very quiet.

If your hotel is close to Times Square, don’t miss the opportunity to take this route. If the walk is perhaps a little too long for you, you can stop at Central Park.

  9. Walking route Upper West Side – Harlem

Join me on this walking tour through the diverse neighbourhoods of New York City. Starting at Columbia University in Morningside Heights, you’ll explore the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem and the beautiful waterfalls of Central Park.

Along the way, you’ll see churches, typical New York brownstone townhouses, and other historical landmarks that give these neighbourhoods their rich cultural and historical significance. Although the distance of this route is not very long, the elevation changes make it a brisk and invigorating walk.

This walk is a bit tougher than the other routes due to the elevation changes. This makes it very suitable for those who want to visit places where the usual travel guides won’t take you.

  10. Evening walking tours in New York

New York is beautiful, day and night. And that I want to show you during the evening walking routes I created. See the lights of the Manhattan skyline, the places New Yorkers go

  11. Evening Tour – Greenwich, Meatpacking & High Line

You will walk through many different New York neighbourhoods during this evening route. From the cosiness of Greenwich Village to the student life around Washington Square Park. And from the buzz of Midtown Manhattan to the luxury in the Meatpacking District. I even came across Britney Spears while making this walking route, so keep an eye out for celebrities.

We start in Midtown, where I show you the small but fun Koreatown. Then we walk along the High Line, through Chelsea, to the Meatpacking District, where you can have a drink at one of the many rooftop bars. We continue our way through The Village, passing countless local spots.

This route is for anyone interested in experiencing New York’s nightlife! The walk is somewhat long, and many of the places we pass are only for those over the age of 21. Keep this in mind if you wish to go inside anyplace. Check in advance if you want to visit any of the bars or restaurants, and make a reservation when possible.

  12. Evening Tour – Times Square

If you are in New York, you’ve probably been to Times Square at least once in the evening. All of the billboards are quite impressive. This route takes you past several New York entertainment landmarks, such as Broadway, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. Visit one of the rooftop bars or drop by a speakeasy. These are all places where people go for a night out; you can just watch or join in on the fun yourself.

We begin in the Upper West Side and work our way to Times Square. Here you come face to face with the grandeur of all the lights. We pass three different food spots along the way: a pizza joint where you can grab a slice for 99 cents, a street food cart and a restaurant where you can try a deluxe (bison) steak.

This is a walk that is fun for everyone, including children! There is so much to see that you won’t get tired of all the impressions anytime soon. The rooftop bars and speakeasy are only accessible to those age 21+.

  13. Evening Tour – Brooklyn & Chinatown

Admire the views of Manhattan’s skyline with all of its lights, as well as up-close views with glimpses of New York life indoors. Begin in atmospheric Brooklyn, then stroll across the Manhattan Bridge, and to top it off, explore Chinatown.

On this walk, I want to show you Brooklyn Heights, where you can find beautiful brownstones and views of the Manhattan skyline. Stop at the Time Out Market in DUMBO for a quick snack, where you can eat all sorts of things. After that, across the bridge and continue towards Chinatown where you will see a different side of New York that is alive until late at night.

I designed the route with everyone in mind, so it is also fun to do with children. The walk includes a crossing over the Manhattan Bridge, for this you need to be in good shape. If you do not want this, you have the option to stop the evening walk earlier.

  14. Evening Tour – Off the beaten PATH

On this evening stroll, I’d like to show you all of historic New York, including the small streets where it all began. You can tell from the cosy atmosphere that things are very different at in the evening than they are during the day. Walk past famous and significant sites.
If you like, you can take the PATH train (hence the name of this route) to New Jersey for a few dollars. There, you can spend half an hour walking along the Hudson River, and enjoy views of the Manhattan skyline.

At the start of the walk, you will come across Stone Street, where you will find a number of eateries. You can check in advance which ones these are. If you want to eat here, there is usually no need to make a reservation.

This route is for everyone! The walk is doable even after a long day. If necessary, you can stop at the Oculus and take the subway back to your hotel.

Stroll past Radio City Music Hall, the iconic Rockefeller Tree, and other holiday decorations. I walk this tour too to fully get into the holiday spirit. This route is designed to easily showcase the best Christmas decorations in the city.

Take the tour during the day or at night for a different festive atmosphere, but keep in mind that the walk may take longer than 1.5 to 2 hours due to crowds. Please note that this route is not included in the bundle.
