Afternoon High Tea in New York
High tea in New York City offers a pleasant chance to rest while exploring. Whenever possible, it is best to reserve your table in advance so you can be sure of a place for your high tea. In my opinion, the following places offer the best afternoon tea in New York:
-
Alice’s Tea Cup
Step into a fairytale setting at Alice’s Tea Cup for an unforgettable high tea. As the name suggests, it is based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Sample homemade biscuits, cakes, scones, fresh sandwiches and dozens of teas at one of their three locations in the Upper East and Upper West Side in Manhattan, and in Brooklyn Heights. Alice’s Tea Cup in New York is a great place to have afternoon tea for young and old alike.

Tiffany’s in New York is a well-known jewellery brand with a shop on Fifth Avenue. The store is home to the Blue Box Cafe; a restaurant run by celebrity chef Daniel Boulud. You can order the Tea at Tiffany’s here; a classic high tea with sweet and savoury bites. Make a reservation in advance to be sure of a seat!
-

In the West Village, you can find Tea & Sympathy; an English-style café where you can enjoy afternoon tea in New York in a cosy setting. The high tea is served with fresh scones, cakes, small sandwiches and a pot of tea with a flavour of your choice.

You can also find the French Ladurée in New York, with a number of locations throughout the city. The spot in SoHo, located on Broadway, is an excellent place for high tea in New York. On hot days, you can sit there in a beautiful garden (just like Carrie from Sex and the City). Order the Ladurée Teatime and be served all sorts of delicacies. To be sure of a seat, book a table in advance.
-
Russian Tea Room
Step back in time at the Russian Tea Room, a famous place full of history in Midtown Manhattan. There are several options here for Afternoon Tea, and there will be plenty of food and drink on the table with all of them. Reserve your table.

High Tea at The Plaza in New York should really be everyone’s number one choice. It is a unique experience, but so are the prices; it’s a luxury experience that comes at a price. The High Tea is served in The Palm Court, the restaurant of The Plaza Hotel in New York. There are several options to choose from, each with delicacies to enjoy.
