What is the difference between the New York Sightseeing Flex Pass and the Sightseeing Day Pass? Both are good discount passes for New York, but they are used in different ways. The Sightseeing Flex Pass is valid for a specific number of attractions, while the Sightseeing Day Pass is valid for a limited number of days. The Flex Pass allows you to choose which attractions you want to visit each day. The Day Pass allows you to visit an unlimited number of attractions within a chosen amount of days. It is always a good idea to go for a discount pass rather than buy separate tickets for everything: it is better value, easier and quicker. One of these passes is all you need, you won’t have to pay anything extra while in New York!

Which pass should I choose?

If you are in New York for a few days and you want to visit a few sights per day, the Sightseeing Flex Pass will probably be the best choice for you. You can buy a pass for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 or 12 attractions. This pass is valid for 60 days after using it for the first time. In most cases you don’t need to (and you often can’t) make reservations to visit attractions; when you are in New York you can just decide then and there exactly what you want to visit. This gives you maximum flexibility!

If you are planning on seeing and doing as much as possible, the Day Pass is a better option. You can buy the Day Pass for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 consecutive days. You can visit an unlimited number of sights on these days and you can choose from a list of more than one hundred sights and tours. The Flex Pass and the Day Pass are offered by the same company, which means you can visit mostly the same attractions and do mostly the same tours with both. The most significant differences are shown in the table below.

How do the Sightseeing Passes work?

You can buy the Flex Pass and Day Pass by clicking on this link. Do you want to purchase the Day Pass? Then you’re already in the right place. Just select the amount of days and passes you want and then pay. Do you want to purchase the Flex Pass? Then choose the amount of attractions and passes you want and proceed to checkout. Don’t forget to use my code mentioned below, which will give you a discount of up to 30% on a number of passes!

After placing your order you’ll receive an email containing a voucher with QR-code. This is your pass. You can print it out or show it on your phone as a digital pass. You will show your pass at the entrance to the attractions that you visit and go directly inside. For some attractions or tours you need to reserve in advance. You can find more information about this on the Sightseeing Pass site.

What can I do using the Sightseeing Passes?

The Flex Pass and Day Pass offer you a selection of more than one hundred sights and tours, and even lunch options! Both passes provide access to most of the famous attractions. They are both great choices for a first or second visit to New York.

Viewpoints

Both the Sightseeing Day Pass and the Flex Pass offer access to various observation decks – a must-do in New York! You can visit my favourite – Top of the Rock – as well as the Empire State Building, One World Observatory and Edge using your Sightseeing Pass.

Hop-on Hop-off Bus

With the Hop on Hop off bus, you can get to know the city during the first few days of your stay. Both passes allow you to use Big Bus Uptown and Downtown tour for a day. You can board right away by showing your pass at the first stop of the route.

Helicopter Flight

The Sightseeing Day and Flex Passes give you the option to add a helicopter flight to your purchase. This add-on costs $199 and includes all fees, making it a good deal instead of buying your helicopter flight separately.

9/11 Museum

As the 9/11 Museum is not included in this pass, you can buy a ticket with time slot separately. This will allow you to visit the museum at your preferred time, ensuring entry and preventing your schedule from getting bogged down by long queues at New York's busiest attraction. Having lunch

The Sightseeing Passes also offer deals at a range of restaurant chains. Do you have a Day Pass or do you have a leftover option on your Flex Pass? Then you can enjoy discounts on lunch or dinner, or even eat for free!
