City Climb at Edge in New York

During the City Climb, you will walk, in harness, up a staircase on the side of the building, to a height of 365 metres. At the top of the skyscraper in Hudson Yards, you will lean over the edge and see New York City and the surrounding states. You can do the City Climb at Edge either during the day or in the evening.

Top of Edge

After your harness is checked by several people, which makes you feel very safe, you walk out. You step onto a platform one by one, where you can look straight down over the edge for the first time. Meanwhile, one of the instructors tells you about what you see. Then the climb to the top begins. Using a staircase on the side of the skyscraper in Hudson Yards, you will walk up to “The Apex”, which is located at 365 metres. Halfway up the stairs, pause to enjoy the view. Once you reach the top, you can lean forward and back over the edge while photos and videos are taken of you. When I did the City Climb, I was up there for about 45 minutes.

Safety Check

In total, you will spend about two hours on this unforgettable activity. Much of this goes into the explanations and the many safety checks. Upon arrival, you will first be given a breathalyser test, so you cannot drink away the nerves beforehand. You will then be given a suit to put on and have to take everything off: watches, necklaces, rings, earrings, etc. You can keep all your belongings in a locker. This includes your phone and camera; nothing can be taken upstairs. Don’t worry, an instructor will take photos and film the whole experience. Afterwards you will receive this video and you can buy the photos.

Eric’s Tip: “The City Climb costs a lot of money, but is an incredibly unique experience. You stand on the highest outdoor point in New York and can look down over the edge. This is an experience you will never forget. In addition, everything was very well organised: the staff were very precise and I felt very safe.”
