Which New York attraction pass?
A New York tourist pass is always a good idea for a trip to the Big Apple. It’s the best way to save money on admission to attractions, museums and activities in New York. Once you have your pass in your pocket, you won’t have to pay anything on the spot to access the attractions included in your pass. Not to mention the convenience: you only need to scan one QR code for all your visits. It’s that simple.
Are you heading to the Big Apple soon and wondering which pass to choose for New York? The New York Pass is one of my favourites! I’ll explain why in this article.
What attractions and tours are included in the New York Pass?
With its wide selection of attractions and tours, the New York Pass is one of the most comprehensive New York tourist passes! Click here to see all the attractions and activities included in the pass.
Benefits of this New York City pass
The great advantage of the New York Pass is that it gives you unlimited access to the attractions and tours included in its selection, unlike passes chosen for a certain number of attractions, such as the Explorer Pass or the Sightseeing Flex Pass. However, you should bear in mind that you cannot visit the same site more than once with this pass.
It includes no fewer than 100 attractions and activities, so you’ll have plenty to fill your days in New York. You have access to the main sights, like the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, Edge, Museum of Natural History, MoMA, Hop on Hop off bus tours and Circle Line cruises. The pass also includes other activities you might not have thought of, like a gospel tour in Harlem, bike rental, rides at Luna Park, or you could even go to a New York Yankees game.
Suppose you’re hesitating between the New York Pass and the Sightseeing Day Pass, which offers the same unlimited option for the duration of your choice. In that case, it’s the available attractions to visit that will help you decide. For example, if you want to visit the 9/11 Museum, this attraction is not included in the Sightseeing Day Pass. Similarly, if you want to book in advance the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, this is not possible with the Sightseeing Day Pass. Your choice will therefore naturally be the New York Pass which allows you to make the reservation in advance.
Good to know: With the New York Pass, you can’t visit the city’s newest observation deck Summit. This attraction is so unique that it is not included in any NYC tourist passes. Remember to book your Summit tickets in advance to discover it.
A selection subject to change
As with all passes for New York City, the selection of attractions and tours in the New York Pass is subject to change. Some activities might be removed from the list and new ones added. You have access to activities that are included in your pass at the time of your visit, not when you book your New York visitor pass. It is therefore very important to check the list of attractions and tours included in your pass shortly before departure.
How does the New York Pass work?
The New York Pass is a day pass for activities in New York, that is, chosen for a number of days. In other words, it is valid for a certain number of days: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10. You choose the length of time you want. Once you have used your pass for the first time in New York, you will have unlimited access to the attractions and activities included in the pass for the duration you have chosen.
Number of consecutive days
It is important to remember that the days of validity of your New York Pass must be consecutive. You cannot therefore use your New York attractions pass for 2 days, take a 3-day break and then use it again for 2 days if you have opted for a 4-day pass, for example.
The first day of validity of your New York Pass is the day on which you scan your pass for the first time to access an attraction or tour in New York. This day counts as the first day of use, regardless of the time of your first visit. It is therefore preferable to use your pass first thing in the morning to make the most of the attractions included in your new york visitor pass.
Adult Pass and Child Pass
The New York Pass comes in two age brackets: the kids’ pass for 3-12-year-olds and the adult pass for anyone aged 13 and over. Children under the age of 3 don’t need a pass, as they can use the attractions free of charge. Some sites offer free entry for children aged 3 to 5, but this is not the case everywhere. Getting a pass for your child in this age group depends on the attractions and activities you have planned.
From a practical point of view, it’s simpler to take a pass for children aged 3 and over. This allows you to have the same ticket for the whole family without having to go to the ticket office specifically to collect a free ticket. Reservations
For most of the attractions and activities included in your NYC tourist pass, you don’t need to make a reservation in advance. Simply present your pass at the entrance, and you’re good to go! In some cases, you must collect a ticket for a specific time slot by presenting your pass. If it’s very busy, you may not be able to get in straight away, but you can choose your time slot later in the day. And for some of the sites, as well as for guided tours, you will need to book your spot in advance. To find out whether or not you need to make reservations, check out the guide here.
