Cinderella the musical on Broadway
Cinderella on Broadway is a fairy-tale musical hit. Based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s television production, Cinderella has received an update of the classic rags-to-riches story of the girl with the glass slipper, the evil stepmother and the handsome prince.
The Evil Stepmother
Who doesn’t know the beloved story of Cinderella? Though the story is a classic, this Broadway production adds a pinch of comedy to it that will surely make you giggle. Once upon a time, kind-hearted Cinderella is forced to take care of the household by her ill-tempered stepmother ‘Madame’ and stepsisters when her father dies. Day and night she takes care of the chores and every wish of her family. Her stepmother ridicules her at any given moment and admits that she had only married Cinderella’s father ‘for the money.’
The Charming Prince
When the prince of the kingdom returns from University – also an orphan – his right-hand man Lord Pinkleton convinces him that he needs to find a wife to be fit for kinghood. Though a little apprehensive, Prince Topher throws a ball for all eligible ladies in the kingdom – all one needs to attend is a dress and an invitation. As all the ladies are giddy with excitement, Cinderella too receives an invitation but has a wardrobe crisis – she doesn’t own anything that isn’t covered in cinders! But when she sings the song “Impossible/It’s Possible” a little miracle just might occur …
Miracles on Broadway
Cinderella on Broadway has all the elements of the enchanting story: a fairy godmother, an evil stepmother, a charming prince, and of course, that fateful stroke of midnight. It is a wonderful show for children and adults alike. The set-design as well as the costumes are incredible and pull you into the magical world where miracles really do happen, and where a girl can really dance in glass slippers.
