Carter Hotel in New York

Carter Hotel in New York

The Carter Hotel is great if you are on a budget but do not want to sleep in a hostel. Located extremely close to Times Square – it’s as midtown as it gets. The Carter Hotel is a no-fuss hotel with little luxury. Perfect for if you just want a bed and a bathroom when planning to spend most of your time exploring New York.

This hotel is temporarily closed. See here for other hotels in New York.

Budget Hotel

The Carter Hotel is a one-star budget hotel which means that you should not expect a whole lot of comfort. The lobby is not very welcoming and the staff are quick and efficient but a little cold. The hotel is ideal for people who want to have a great location but who do not have high standards of luxury.

Basic Rooms

The rooms at the Carter Hotel are very basic and a little dull but reasonably spacious for New York standards. The beds are big and sturdy which is perfect for relaxing after a night out in the town. All rooms have a bath and a shower as well as a TV. You can access computers downstairs or make use of Wi-Fi. Both these options have an additional fee. Note that the rooms do not have desks or safes so staying at the Carter Hotel is recommended for holiday guests and not those on a business trip. The rooms are cleaned ever other day so do not expect fresh towels and bedding every day.

Times Square

The Carter Hotel is located in the charming theatre district in a side street of Times Square. This makes the hotel extremely easy to access and in walking distance from some of the greatest Broadway theatres.

Subway lines S, 7, N, Q and R stop at the subway stop “Times Square – 42nd Street”. Alternatively, equally close by, is Port Authority Bus Terminal where the buses stop and subway lines A, C and E. A little further away you will find Grand Central Station where the 4, 5 and 6 trains stop. If you get off at any of these stops you can easily walk to the hotel.

Eric’s Tip: When staying at the Carter Hotel, ask for renovated rooms. They are not luxurious but just a little bit nicer. There is a deli next to the hotel, but I would not advise eating breakfast or dinner there. Instead, head over to Ellen’s Stardust for an incredible breakfast experience.
